Course Description:

The objective of this AP Spanish Language and Culture institute will be on the structure and content of the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam. There will be an introduction to the Course and Exam Description (CED) guide. We will dive deep into the Unit Guides and Instructional Approaches. This is an activity-based approach that will provide participants with useful strategies and activities for not only developing but maintaining a successful AP Spanish program. In addition, participants will learn to holistically assess student competencies in the target language as well as examine student performance. Furthermore, participants will learn how to navigate AP Classroom.

Learn strategies to incorporate literary works from the AP Spanish literature exam to improve interpretive/reading mode.

Furthermore, we will preview new resources and support for the AP course.

Overall, key instructional approaches will be on understanding, planning and teaching the course as well as assessing student progress and understanding.

Topics will include the following:

● R\evise course audit requirements. Course Requirement 1.

● Digital Activation of the course. Course Requirement 1.

● Strategies and Pedagogical Tools. Course Requirement 3.

Course Description:

This four-day workshop will prepare teachers for the AP Spanish Language and Culture course and exam. The seminar will provide sample materials and classroom activities related to the 2023 exam. Participants will be asked to actively participate and share best practices with the entire group.

We will cover these topics: 

  • Introducing the Unit Guides.

  • Achievement Level Descriptions.

  • Themes.

  • AP Classroom.

  • Instructional Strategies for the Exam.

  • Exam Overview.

  • Sample Exams.

  • Inthis workshop, teachers will learn strategies to holistically assess their student’s competencies in the target language.

Participants are invited to bring best practice ideas and activities to share with the group.
